Tiering makes under-aspiration visible
Each choice is scored against the pupil's predicted grades, so a list of five safe courses looks like what it is. It is the fastest way to spot the able pupil quietly aiming low - which is a Benchmark 3 problem long before it is a UCAS one.

The things schools ask
No, and there is no live connection to UCAS. Submission stays on UCAS. Chapter is where the application is built, tracked and supported up to that point.
Recorded by the school, synced from the pupil's Chapter app, or imported from the UCAS adviser portal. Course search is backed by our own course database, so a recorded choice carries the real course, its UCAS points and the 15 October flag.
Against the pupil's predicted grades - safe, solid or ambitious. The value is in the shape of the whole list, not any single label.
If the pupil is linked to a parent through Chapter Family, yes - and parents can comment alongside the school's feedback rather than in a separate email thread.
Apprenticeships have their own tracker, and post-16 destinations are handled in the Destinations module, so a pupil applying to both is not forced through a university-shaped process.
