Parent / Guardian

Parent / Guardian Guide

Chapter gives you a clear, jargon-free window into your child's careers education at school. See what they're doing, what's coming up, and how their career readiness is developing.

Overview

As a parent or guardian, your Chapter account is linked to your child's school account. You'll see a personalised view of their careers activities, upcoming events, and a career readiness score that grows as they engage with more opportunities.

No app to download

Chapter for parents works entirely in a browser — desktop or mobile. There is no separate app to download. Your school will send you an invite link by email to get started.

Getting started

Getting set up takes under two minutes.

  1. 1

    Accept your school's invite

Your school will send an invite email from Chapter Schools. Click the link, set a password, and your account is created. The link is valid for 7 days — ask your school to resend if it's expired.

  2. 2

    View your child's profile

After logging in, you'll land on 'My Child'. You'll see their career readiness score, a list of upcoming events they're enrolled in, and any recent activities logged by the school.

Haven't received an invite?

Contact your child's school and ask them to resend the invite from Settings → Team. Check your spam/junk folder too — invite emails sometimes land there.

Understanding the career readiness score

  • It's a percentage reflecting how much careers activity your child has participated in
  • It grows as they attend events, receive guidance sessions, complete lessons, and more
  • It is a rough engagement indicator — not a grade or a formal assessment
  • It resets each academic year to reflect current-year activity only

Parent Digest Emails

Parent Digest

Your school can send you regular email updates about your child's careers activities. No need to log in every week — the digest comes to your inbox.

  • Personalised to your child — only their activities, nothing generic
  • Sent weekly, fortnightly, or termly depending on your school's settings
  • Includes upcoming events so you can help your child prepare
  • Update your email preferences in your account settings at any time

Not receiving digests?

Check your school has enabled the Parent Digest module (Settings → Modules) and that your email address is correct in your account. Check spam folders too — the first digest sometimes gets filtered.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see another child's data?

No. Each parent account is linked to a specific student. If you have multiple children at the same school, your school can link both to your account — contact them to request this.

Is my child's data private?

Yes. Chapter complies with UK GDPR. Your child's careers data is only visible to you, their teachers, and the school's Careers Lead. It is not shared with third parties.

What is the Chapter app mentioned on my child's profile?

The Chapter app is a separate product for students to explore careers independently. It's different from this platform. Ask your child's school if they have access to it.

How do I change my email or password?

Log in and click your initials in the top-right corner, then select Profile. You can update your email and change your password from there.

My child has left the school — what happens to my account?

Your access will be removed when the school deactivates your account, typically at the end of the academic year. If you need a record of activities before then, take a screenshot of My Child.
