Teacher Guide

Chapter helps form tutors and subject teachers support their students' careers development without extra admin. Log interventions in 20 seconds, track your form group's progress, and deliver lessons from the platform.

Overview

Teachers in Chapter see a focused view of their responsibilities. Form tutors see their assigned form group. Subject teachers can log careers interventions and deliver lessons. You won't see data for students outside your form unless you're also a Careers Lead.

Your role in Chapter

Teachers have access to My Form (your form group), Quick Log (intervention logging), and Lessons (if enabled by your school). You cannot manage events, providers, or school-wide reports — contact your Careers Lead for those.

Getting started

Three steps to get set up and be useful to your students from day one.

  1. 1

    View your form group

Click 'My Form' in the sidebar. Every student in your form group is listed with their current Gatsby score and recent activity. Red dots indicate students who may need attention.

  2. 2

    Log your first intervention

Click 'Quick Log' and select a student from the dropdown. Choose an intervention type, add optional notes, and hit Save. Done in under 30 seconds.

  3. 3

    Deliver a lesson

Open 'Lessons' in the sidebar to find lesson plans prepared by your Careers Lead. Open one, click present, and mark attendance at the end — it all logs automatically.

Gatsby scores explained

Each student's Gatsby score is a percentage reflecting how much careers activity they've participated in relative to their year group. A low score means the student needs more engagement — use Quick Log to record conversations and help move the needle.

Quick Log

Quick Log

Log a careers intervention or conversation in under 30 seconds. Designed for the corridor, the classroom, and everywhere in between.

  • Select a student and an intervention type from a dropdown list
  • Add optional notes about what was discussed or agreed
  • The log appears instantly on the student's profile
  • Counts towards Gatsby Benchmark 3 (Addressing the Needs of Each Student)

Pro tips

Making the most of your time

  • Quick Log works on mobile — log a conversation in the corridor before you've left the student.
  • Check 'My Form' at the start of each half-term to spot students falling behind their peers.
  • If a student needs a 1:1 with the Careers Lead, flag them directly from their profile.
  • Lessons are linked to schemes of work — you don't need to prep anything, just open and present.
  • Use the search bar (⌘K) to jump to any student instantly without scrolling.
